Case

Since BRÜGGLER chronographs mirror their owner’s individuality, the young enterprise focuses on a classical and approved size for the watchcases. With a diameter of 40 mm, a BRÜGGLER incorporates the ideal companion for every situation. Both case types differ 1.3 mm in height, with the mechanical movement 12.5 mm and the quartz 11.2 mm.

The case is made of 316L (DIN 17440/41) premium steel with a density of 8,0 kg/dm3 and a hardness HB 30 of ≤ 215.
Our special alloy (reference 1.4435) is an austenitic stainless acid-resistant steel with 18% Cr, 14% Ni and at least 2.5% Mo. Because of its high content of molybdenum, this material has a significantly enhanced resistance in comparison with other Cr-Ni steels. It is particularly resistant to reducing effects of organic and inorganic acids and halides. Moreover, it is less sensitive to acute strokes. The very low carbon content improves its resistance to intergranular corrosion. It is also perfectly adapted to brush and polish our cases to absolute perfection.

Outstanding DLC coating

Our DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating with 5'300 micro hardness is about 2-3 times harder than other DLC or PVD coatings. Our 316L premium steel with its high molybdenum content it is much more resistant to shocks and a perfect basis for this type of coating. 

Our applied DLC process sets itself apart from conventional lamination: through substantially reduced friction and extreme hardness performance, the lifespan of luxury components are enhanced many times over. With the DLC our steel gains an even more extreme hardness, utmost wear resistance and a large degree of chemical stability and corrosion resistance.
